Description
Three Flavors From the Middle of the World
Ecuadorian Essence builds the Farm to Bar Gift Box on 70% Nacional cacao from Manabí, Ecuador, pairing it with three ingredients from Ecuador’s farms to create a short tasting journey through the country.
Nacional cacao, the “Arriba” variety, grows in Manabí on the equator with close to twelve hours of daylight all year. Ecuador is the world’s largest producer of fine flavor cacao, a category that represents only about 5% of global production according to the International Cocoa Organization.
The bars are made in Ecuador, close to where the cacao grows, and brought to the Washington DC area by Ecuadorian Essence, a family from Ecuador. The Farm to Bar collection is not sold in national chains.
What’s Inside the Farm to Bar Box
The Ecuadorian Essence Farm to Bar Gift Box contains three 70% dark chocolate bars — Orange Peel, Bee Pollen and Toasted Coffee — each sweetened with cane sugar and honey and each with its own flavor profile.
Orange Peel
Orange peel and honey meet 70% cacao for a bright, citrusy bar with a smooth finish — the most approachable of the three.
Bee Pollen
Bee pollen and honey bring floral, gently sweet notes and a delicate crunch that echo the natural aroma of Nacional cacao.
Toasted Coffee From Loja
Coffee from Loja, in Ecuador’s southern Andes, is combined with honey and 70% cacao for a bold, aromatic bar made for coffee lovers.
What Farm to Bar Means
Ecuadorian Essence calls this collection Farm to Bar because the chocolate is made in Ecuador, the same country where the cacao grows, keeping every bar traceable to its origin.
Much of the chocolate sold in the United States is made far from where its cacao is grown. Making the chocolate at origin keeps the value and the knowledge in Ecuador and connects each bar with the place its beans come from.
How to Taste Single-Origin Chocolate
Ecuadorian Essence suggests tasting the three bars from lightest to boldest — Orange Peel, Bee Pollen, then Toasted Coffee — so each flavor can be appreciated on its own.
Let each square rest on your tongue for a few seconds before chewing. Notice the aroma first, then how the flavor changes as the chocolate melts, and finally how long the finish lasts. A sip of water between bars resets the palate.
A Craft Chocolate Gift
Ecuadorian Essence designed the Farm to Bar Gift Box for people who appreciate dark chocolate by origin, aroma and finish, making it a thoughtful gift for hosts, clients and colleagues.
Hotels, gourmet stores and companies in the DMV can order the box in volume for amenities, corporate gifts and retail. The minimum wholesale order is one wholesale box of 12 bars. Complete the “Become a Distributor” form or write to sales@ecuadorianessence.com.
